An excellent article and a wonderful perspective. I've done some journaling and am a writer by nature with a number of fiction books published as well as writing here on substack and Medium as well. I believe loving your story is important for you to sort out your own story and at the same time it extends out into whatever else yu might write. Fiction? Love your story. Articles? Love your stories. It is the heart of the true writer and in the end it is the heart of anyone who puts pen to paper to tell their own story.

Thank you. It is the "heart of the story, the writer, the reader." A virtual triangle.

Thank you for all the food for thought. I am very new to writing and Substack also. I'd like to believe my life stories matter to someone besides me, but I think I just need to focus on what they mean to me first.

Thank you for your input. I believe when you do so (let the stories matter enough to you to write them), they become very important to others. They illustrate how to love and care for stories. So glad you are here.

Thank you for this second part! This process so reminds me of the myth of Ariadne’s thread in the labyrinth in Minos, Crete. My story is following threads that will lead me to my golden thread through a labyrinthine journey.❤️🙏

Love how writing our story is an act of love of self. Jung said that we must have a loving relationship to the Self-the center of our personality throughout our lifetime. He was a supporter of journal writing about this relationship. It must be our priority that many take up after retirement when there is time to reflect, remember memories, evoke dreams and devote the time it requires. Thank you for reminding me of this love!

So much in this article. Fascinating. Somehow writing about myself has never interested me, although I am in every word of my stories. Lately I've learned to love the process of storytelling. I used to love 'having written." Then the joy was in finishing a story and not in the writing. Switching to loving the process of the story emerging has resulted in more productivity and a lot more daily happiness.

What a beautiful piece & perspective "writing your life story is a loving gesture, a gift to yourself"

This resonates with me and my work on so many levels.

Lovely to meet you here 💕🙏
